Thandeka Khoza otherwise known as Luna Iyana was born in KZN Emnambithi in a small township called Ekuvukeni. My mom tells me I started singing at the age of 3 which I barely remember, but I know I was a really good singer at the age of 6 and I have been singing ever since. I’m versatile when it comes to music, I sang throughout my school years and loved every moment of it. Music has always been a dream for me, a drive that keeps me going.
My stage name is Luna Iyana which signifies the moon and the rain : Luna came first, which means Moon because “as I go through different phases in my life just like the moon I always come back better and stronger” and Iyana which means it’s raining in isiZulu, came through a dream both these names represent who I am.
My music journey started in 2019 after I met Rythmique Djs Thabang and Mahlatsi, and released a single titled “One in love” with them. I then met Thapelo Lesley Mokobela known as Lez_worldwide and we’ve been working till date. I am also a songwriter! Every song you’ve heard by me has been written by myself, I always want to tell a story when writing a song, I want my music to heal, give hope, motivate and build nations because I believe music is a language for every living being. I also write songs for other artists as well. My song writing process is quite easy, I first have to connect to the beat and the writing will flaw effortlessly.
My first gig was with the Rythmique Djs at Dandy Lifestyle Corner performing our single “One in love” I was nervous but excited mostly, the crowd was attentive and they loved me so it went very well. Since then I have worked with Alex Avenues and his team, we released an EP titled “Imvu Emnyama” of 3 tracks Angibonge, Imvu Emnyama and Dlozi we then released a single titled “Sondela” working with them has been fun and I have learnt a lot.
My biggest highlight thus far is the EP “Imvu Emnyama” and the single “Sondela” with Alex Avenues and “Kwanele” working with Workaholic which is only available on YouTube and the link is on my Instagram bio. My biggest motivation is the fact that I’ve always known that I was born to be a star, it keeps me going plus my family and friends are always supportive however my biggest supporters are the people I work with, they are always there for me.
Everyday is a challenge! But the only way to deal with each day is to remember where I come from and where I’m going, know my place and always stay humble. Life is a challenge on its own so just know who are and everything else will be in alignment. As for critics I don’t pay much attention to them, I mean not everyone will agree with what you think or say, people will always have their own opinions so I do what works for me and silence the rest.

We are always working on something new, am not at liberty to share much for now until we conclude certain details but trust me we are definitely working on something. However you can stream my music on all digital platforms.
