Founder of Sentimental Flames established in 2023 Tamlynn, is a total candaholic! I have a candle lit in my home almost every day, it’s an addiction said Tamlynn. However, I have kids and pets and wanted candles that were non-toxic, clean burning and safe for my family but I found out that most candle brands use paraffin wax in their candles which pollutes the air we breathe when the candle is lit.
So I began testing out waxes that are clean burning and found coconut soy wax blend. The benefits of this wax is that coco soy wax doesn’t release harmful toxins into the air when burned. It’s also carbon neutral, meaning that it doesn’t contribute to greenhouse gas emissions either. Coconut wax is produced in a more eco-friendly way compared to other wax options.
It’s clean burning, has a strong scent throw, and is quite easy to use. Which are all the benefits I wanted in a candle plus it has a longer burn time which is a bonus in my book and that’s how Sentimental Flames was born.
I hand make each and every vessel from scratch, meaning no two vessels will ever be alike which I love. I mix my own fragrances to create scents that remind me of something, or someone. With (my Nostalgia Collection) I hope it evokes memories for you, and helps you create new ones. I’m hoping you smell the love and care in every burn!
Our smaller candles burn for 20 hours and our bigger candles burn for 50+ hours.

What was the inspiration behind the nostalgia collection?
As touched on above. I mix my own fragrances to create scents that either remind me of someone and something from my past. I wanted to create candles that when lit would take me back to a special moment and or person in my life. I truly believe that memories can be activated by smell amongst other things and memory allows us to understand and act in the present based on past experiences. These scents are very distinct for me and evoke amazing memories.
Currently I have 8 nostalgic scents in my candle range.
Savasana :
Was created from doing yoga and pilates with my mom. This was actually the first scent I created.
Beach Bum :
Is based off going to the beach in my hometown and the smell of pineapples and mangoes.
La Casa :
Reminds me of my childhood home, I had a huge fig tree right outside my bedroom and in fig season whenever I opened my window that was the smell I’d get.
Bloom :
Is a constant reminder of my kids. Every birthday or Mother’s Day my kids buy me a massive bouquet of flowers as part of my gifts and this one gets me every time.
Mystic Nights :
Is a representation of my husband, the night that he proposed to me on the beach. It’s a masculine scent that has a hint of oceanic breeze in it.
Cozy Cabin :
Is a sweet reminder of travelling and camping with my family when I was younger. The smell of marshmallows melting over the fire.
But First…. need I say more. I remember the first time walking into a little cafe and being hit with the aroma of freshly ground coffee, creamy latte’s and irresistible confectioneries. Now I don’t even speak to anyone in the morning before I’ve had my first sip of coffee (blocking eyes).
Laundry Day :
Is my best seller! This fragrance was created from the memories of my grandmother and mom whenever they would spring clean the home or do the washing. I would walk in and it would just feel so fresh and clean or I would smell the washing on the line and remember how good it smelt with the Stay Soft.
Now it’s moved on to also remind me of my newborn baby and how his clothes would smell after every wash and how it would linger on his clothes whenever I held him. We also offer a great option of purchasing a “Discover your Scent” sample pack which allows you to smell all 8 of our scents in a small 1oz tin, so that you don’t have to commit to something you’re not 100% sure you’re going to love.

What is the process for finding the perfect scent to add to your range?
The process of finding the perfect scent to add to my range comes from many different things. It could be from nostalgia and would be added to my nostalgia collection or it could simply come from a smell that just really smells heavenly to me or recommendations from customers. It’s really fun to play around with different scents to see how they react to each other when combined. Which is stronger and needs to be more prominent or how can I enhance what this fragrance already has. I love and strive to create scents that are familiar yet different.
Will you be adding more products to your range? If yes, what can we look forward to?
I will definitely be adding more to my range as one of the keys to a successful business is staying on top of things and always keeping your customers wanting more. You can look forward to some amazing Summer Scents like “Main Squeeze” which is such a true to life orange, citrusy scent and we have some limited addition Mother’s Day scents coming soon as well so be on the lookout.
