Neo Mpedi is a 35year old born in Rusty Dusty (Rustenburg) in a village called Rasimone (Chaneng). I am a member of the LGBTQI+ community, a qualified personal trainer by profession. I obtained my National Diploma Certificate in Sports Science in Tshwane University of Technology.
KnitsnKnotsBySniro was established in 2021 after i lost my job due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I have always known how to crochet however I was not as good as I am of date. Because I was not working, I had to keep myself busy it started as just a hobby, to being a passion then it became my bread and butter.
At first it was under my other passion which is photography and I just put them under one umbrella (Snirodahero photography), however my wife (who is my manager and promoter) decided we needed a name as she has always foreseen that one day it will grow into a brand, so she came up with “KnitsnKnotsBySniro”..Where “every hook is made with love”. Like the slogan says “every hook is made with love”, I put my passion into it. Every outfit, every craft i make as if i will be rated or judged on it; one little mistake i have to start all over again.
The inspiration behind my designs and colour choices comes from who I am as a lesbian woman. We represent rainbow colours or more like rainbow colours represents us so why not play with these colours. However I also cater to those who love rustic natural colours (Different strokes for everyone).
The industry I have chosen is a tough one, there’s a lot of competition especially with big brands but I am getting there. I have realized that my brand is noticeable and it is growing. My support system has been my wife, that woman has been my number one cheerleader from day one. She has held the fort and she has pushed me into my greatness even when I felt tired and frustrated. She makes my outfits look extra beautiful on her, recently she has learned how to crochet even though she had little background. She has already made a few outfits and I am so proud of her. She has been a great student so far, so this is a family business.
To anyone who has a vision and wants to turn it into a reality one word-Patience. Imagine doing what you love and getting extra cash for it. I believe in my brand so much. It is what I do and it is what I live for. I love my brand. When i see how much people love my work I get inspired to push more. I want to expand the brand internationally I want to dress prominent people as well, and always leave room for learning.
