At just 18 years old, Jamaican artist Kaylah Angus is already carving out her space in the music world with a voice that’s bold, vibrant, and spiritually rooted. Hailing from a family where music was the unspoken language, Kaylah says music didn’t just happen to her, “It got into me.”

Raised in a household pulsing with rhythm, Kaylah’s love for music grew from understanding its unique ability to influence reality, heal, and connect. It wasn’t long before this realization turned into a calling. “Music is a powerful force,” she shares. “It’s art that can heal and bring people together.”

This June, she’s preparing to release her second single, “Bad Gyal Gangsta,” a track she describes as “pure vibes” and deeply empowering. Inspired by her alter ego “Shakti”, a name rooted in Hindu spirituality symbolizing divine feminine energy, the single is more than just a song; it’s a message. “It’s a reminder to women of their power within.”

Earlier this year, Kaylah debuted with “Block and Delete,” a song that made it clear she was here to make waves. Her sound is rooted in dancehall but layered with eclectic influences, giving her music a dynamic range that feels both familiar and fresh. “Dancehall plays a great role in my culture, and you can hear that core sound in my music.”

But Kaylah is not just a singer. She’s also a producer, songwriter, and aspiring commercial model, titles she balances with joyful discipline. “My time is usually spent creating beats, writing, recording, and staying on top of a healthy lifestyle so I can be at my best for shoots and performances.”

For Kaylah, music goes beyond entertainment, it’s soul food. “It feeds the spirit,” she says simply, highlighting how deeply she connects to the art form.

When asked about dream collaborations, she mentions South African pop sensation Tyla. “Her story really resonates with me. She believed in her dream, and her parents gave her the space to chase it. That kind of faith and alignment is powerful.”

And behind the bright lights and bold lyrics, there’s a strong foundation of support. Kaylah credits her mother as her greatest cheerleader. “She’s my number one supporter. I owe everything to her.”

As she sets her sights on the future, Kaylah has one clear goal: to keep making music that moves people, not just to dance, but to feel.
