Hip-Hop artist Estácio is an entrepreneur and all-round family guy originally from Angola but grew in (East-Side) Johannesburg, South Africa.
His journey in music started off as hobby around the of age 13, free-styling at school and writing poetry for girls. He later met a crew of artists and was asked to join (Sleeknote) consisting of 5 members, which ignited his love for music and inspired him to purse music as a career.

Growing up in Johannesburg wasn’t always sunshine and roses but it shaped me into the person I am today, said Estácio. Music moguls such as Fabolous, Jay-Z, Nas, 2pac, Sade influenced my sound and gave me a wider sense of creativity and expression.
I’ve always felt like I’m the voice of the voiceless! We all go through similar challenges, good or bad however not everyone can be expressive about their experiences and that’s where I come in with the gift to narrate those experiences. I want to translate a message of perseverance, resilience, love, hope, faith and the spoils of victory through my music.

Can you share a defining moment in your career that made you realize music was your true path?
After having my daughter in 2017, I had to pause on the music to solely focus on being more stable and providing for her. This made it the last year I had recorded anything or even felt inspired to create. As years went by the calling kept getting louder and louder, despite that I was making decent money, nothing was as fulfilling as being in my creative mind and element doing what I love that’s when I realized that music was indeed my calling.
How do you stay creative and continue evolving as an artist?
I always challenge myself because I believe I’m only as good as my last verse and I don’t let acknowledgement and praises of others get to my head, that way I always have something to prove to myself. I am usually my own critic, to the extent that after writing and recording a song I will analyze it to find a way on how can I do an even better job on delivering in the next verse/ song.
Are there any upcoming collaborations or projects that readers should be excited about?
Yes, firstly I would like to express my sincere apologies for the wait but it all will be worth it, just keep an eye out. I’m definitely releasing a body of work soon, along with some more visuals I might just give you guys the title as an exclusive release.
