For Brenda Mwinban Naab, better known as Brenny, music has always been more than a passion. It has been the place where emotion finds a voice. Hailing from Ghana, West Africa, the Afrosoul and R&B artist grew up surrounded by the sounds of some of music’s most powerful voices, spending hours watching Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Toni Braxton perform on CDs and searching for every opportunity to step onto a stage herself. From school events to plays, there was always something pulling her towards performance, and even at a young age, Brenny understood that music could do more than entertain, it could make an impact.
Today, she describes her sound as emotional, soulful and honest, drawing from the rich melodies and heartfelt storytelling that first shaped her musical identity. For Brenny, Afrosoul and R&B offer the freedom to explore feeling in its most authentic form, blending the sounds she grew up loving with stories that come from somewhere deeply personal. Music has become her escape and, perhaps most importantly, the space where she feels most vulnerable and free. “It gives me a space to be vulnerable, tell my stories, and connect with others who may feel the same way,” she shares.
That vulnerability is particularly significant because Brenny admits she has often struggled to speak openly about certain emotions, sometimes choosing to bottle things up instead. Songwriting gives her another language, one where feelings that might be difficult to say out loud can emerge naturally through lyrics, melodies and harmonies. More often than not, she begins with words, sometimes inspired by a beat that immediately creates a feeling or direction. From there, she draws on her own experiences, allowing real emotions to become stories that listeners can recognise as their own.

That emotional honesty sits at the centre of her latest single, Remedy, a song born from the complicated experience of wanting someone who does not seem to want you in quite the same way. It captures the exhaustion of overthinking, questioning yourself and holding onto the possibility of something that may never happen. Yet beneath the heartbreak is a message of reassurance. Brenny wanted the song to remind anyone experiencing longing, uncertainty or emotional pain that they are not alone, and that even the heaviest feelings eventually become lighter.
While Remedy draws from Brenny’s own emotions, its message extends far beyond her personal experience. She understands the strange loneliness that can come with overthinking and heartbreak, and she hopes listeners hear something familiar in the song. Rather than encouraging people to hide those feelings, she wants her music to create room for vulnerability and acceptance. In many ways, Remedy becomes exactly what its title suggests: not a cure for pain, but a gentle reminder that feeling it is part of being human, and that healing is possible.
The song’s visual story deepens that idea. Brenny wanted the Remedy music video to capture the loneliness she experienced during that period and translate it into something audiences could see and feel. The beach and its waves were deliberately chosen as symbols of healing and the emotional remedy she was searching for. She remained closely involved in shaping the creative direction, while videographer Avs Photography helped expand the concept with ideas of his own and brought additional life to the final product through editing. Together, the music and visuals create a world where heartbreak, solitude and healing can exist in the same frame.

For Brenny, Remedy also represents how far she has come since her debut single, In Denial. That first release was a deeply personal introduction to the world, and putting such an intimate part of herself into the hands of listeners was understandably nerve-racking. The response, however, taught her something invaluable: vulnerability creates connection. Seeing people respond to the honesty in In Denial gave her the confidence to continue opening up, while also becoming more intentional about the stories she tells.
With Remedy, she feels more certain about the kind of artist she wants to become, one whose music can feel like a safe space for people to express themselves, process their emotions and feel understood. Her creative process remains deliberately fluid because she is still discovering the full range of her sound. Some songs begin with melodies, others with personal experiences that need to be released, while Remedy began with chords that she developed into a demo beat on BandLab. After layering vocals and lyrics, she shared the idea with her team and producers Auggie and GV, who helped transform the early concept into the finished song.
That willingness to experiment reflects an artist who is not interested in rushing into a box. Brenny is still exploring different sounds, styles and emotions, allowing her artistry to evolve naturally. Outside music, she is equally curious about life, enjoying novels and films, particularly mysteries and thrillers that keep her thinking. She is also deeply empathetic, naturally placing herself in other people’s shoes, a quality that feeds directly into her songwriting. It allows her to move beyond her own experiences and understand the emotions and perspectives of others, creating stories that can reach further than her own life.

Her first single remains one of the most transformative moments of her journey. Brenny remembers being nervous about stepping into the music industry and never expected In Denial to travel as far as it did. The support she received from the people around her and the connection listeners found in her music became the encouragement she needed to keep going. It showed her that there was space for her voice, her vulnerability and her stories.
Now, there is much more on the horizon. Brenny promises new releases that will explore different emotions and diverse sounds, alongside a growing focus on creating visuals that bring her music to life. Collaborations are also in the works, although she is keeping those details close to the chest for now. What is clear is that she is entering an exciting stage of her journey, one where experimentation, emotional honesty and visual storytelling will continue to shape the artist she is becoming.
For anyone discovering Brenny through Remedy, the message she hopes remains is simple: she is an artist who is not afraid to tell stories from the heart. Her music is about vulnerability, acceptance and finding the courage to move forward from experiences that once held you in place. If Remedy is any indication of where her journey is heading, Benny is not simply creating songs to be heard. She is creating spaces where people can feel, reflect, heal and perhaps recognise a little bit of themselves in the story.
