Francis Blessing, professionally known as Drayesong is a versatile singer, songwriter, and music producer from Lagos, Nigeria. Music has always been my passion, and it’s at the core of everything I do, said Drayesong.
His journey in music began at a young age when he discovered his love for melodies and rhythms. Over the years, he has honed his craft and explored multiple genres. Today, he creates music across all genres, but has a strong affinity for Amapiano, Afrobeats, Soul, and Jazz. His versatility allows him to connect with diverse audiences worldwide.
Tell us about your work as a producer and some of the collaborations you’ve had thus?
As a producer, I’m deeply involved in every aspect of music creation. I produce most of my own songs, ensuring that every track reflects my unique style and vision.
The process involves songwriting, sound engineering, and ensuring the final production captures the essence of the song and resonates with listeners. It’s a rewarding experience to help shape music that connects with people.
My favorite track thus far is “Olabisi” It’s a song that holds a special place in my heart because of the raw emotions it conveys and the connection it builds with listeners. It reflects my journey as an artist and my ability to create music that resonates deeply with people.
Beyond my work on my music, I’ve had the privilege of producing for several talented artists, including Nerryckole on “Abafana,” an Amapiano Afropiano mix and Billion Solar (“Konami”), DJ Tough, E Fresh, and many more. Collaborating with other artists is always rewarding because it allows for the fusion of creativity and ideas, resulting in fresh and exciting music.
Tell us about the single “WOZA LA” and what it’s about.
“Woza La” is one of my latest singles, and it’s a vibrant Amapiano track that blends English, Yoruba, and Zulu. The song is danceable, energetic, and celebrates unity and joy through music. It’s a track that transcends borders and brings people together on the dance floor.
What is the most important lesson being in the music industry has taught you?
The music industry has taught me patience, persistence, and the importance of staying authentic. Success doesn’t happen overnight, but when you remain true to your craft, the rewards are immeasurable. My goal is to leave a lasting legacy in the music industry. I want to continue creating timeless music, collaborate with global icons, and inspire upcoming artists. I also aim to use my platform, WavDaw, to give independent artists a voice and bridge the gap between creativity and audience reach.
Anything you are currently working on that you would love for our readers to know about?
I’m currently working on an EP that features incredible collaborations with a South African artist, a Zimbabwean artist, and a Nigerian artist. It’s an exciting project that showcases the fusion of diverse musical cultures, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it. Additionally, I’m focused on building my music streaming platform, WavDaw, which will revolutionize how we discover and enjoy music.
