From New York To The World Kioni Is Redefining Music One Beat at a Time

The biggest & baddest, Mrs. Make the Beat Go Ride, yours truly, Kioni. A powerhouse female artist hailing from Amityville, Long Island, New York, Kioni is carving her own lane in the music industry with a dynamic sound and fearless approach.

Kioni’s love for music started early. At just 14 or 15 years old, she began dropping tracks on SoundCloud, honing her craft as both a singer and songwriter. Over time, her artistry evolved, leading her to explore multiple genres without limitation. “I wouldn’t say I belong to any specific genre,” she explains. “I sing, I rap… I write pop songs, R&B, country, you name it. I do whatever feels good at the time.” Refusing to be boxed in, Kioni embraces versatility as one of her greatest strengths.

As a songwriter Kioni’s writing process is as fluid as her genre choices. “Sometimes, I start with a melody or a beat that inspires me, and other times, it’s a feeling or experience I want to capture,” she explains. Regardless of the approach, one thing remains constant, authenticity. “I like to be intentional with my words while keeping things natural and real. Music should feel organic.”

For Kioni, music is more than just beats and lyrics, it’s about connection. “I want my songs to resonate with people, to make them feel seen and understood,” she shares. Whether she’s creating an upbeat track like “HOTS” that’s all about the vibe or penning something deeply personal, her goal remains the same to provide a soundtrack to her listeners’ lives.

As a female artist in a male-dominated industry, Kioni is no stranger to misconceptions. “People assume that female artists only talk about sex,” she says. “But if you really listen to my discography, you’ll hear creativity, storytelling, and depth. Whether it’s fun, emotional, or empowering, there’s real artistry behind the music.”

Tell us about the song “HOTS” what inspired the song?

So, I booked two hours at the studio, and I had this other song I was super excited to record which now, I don’t even like anymore. But I knew it wouldn’t take me the full two hours, so about an hour before the session, I went through my email, picked a beat from a beat package someone sent me, and just started freestyling. I came up with the hook right there, then took it to the studio and freestyled the verses. Honestly, I didn’t overthink it. It was one of those spontaneous tracks that just came together naturally.

In an industry as competitive as music, criticism is inevitable. But Kioni takes it in stride. “How that Lil Baby song go? ‘Middle fingers in the air...'” she laughs. “But seriously, I know criticism comes with the territory. I take what’s constructive, ignore the noise, and keep pushing. At the end of the day, I make music for those who connect with it. As long as I stay true to myself, that’s what matters.”

Kioni’s aspirations reach far beyond chart-topping hits. “I want to keep growing as an artist and create music that breaks boundaries,” she says. “I want people to appreciate me and my artistry for what it truly is.” With a mission to inspire others to embrace their uniqueness, Kioni is not just making music, she’s building a legacy. “I hope to leave a lasting impact, perform all over the world, and empower the next generation.”
