Founded two years ago, Ellie Bosch Designs specializes in fashionable long lasting hand printed, high-quality flora and fauna inspired fabric products which are not only sustainable and environmentally conscious but will last for many years.
It all began through a personal journey of healing from a very dark place to happiness, when my daughter gave me a necklace with my birth flower, a daisy she bought from a jewellery designer in her area, said founder. I did research about the very humble daisy and learnt that they have some amazing qualities.
They are so widespread because they are incredibly adaptable. They thrive in very dry and very wet conditions and adapt easily to either shade or full exposure to sunlight. They grow just as easily in the mountains as on a flat grassy plain.
I realized that to live and be successful, it is important to be as adaptable as a daisy. We must perform at the highest level but always be down to earth. We must grow and bloom even if it is dry around us and ensure that we do not drown in the business of our existence.

As women looking and feeling good is an integral part of our lives which gets harder as we age. Therefore, to carry handcrafted items made by somebody who understands the importance of self-care, loves and cares about embracing the beauty of nature and our indigenous wildflowers is paramount.
We often find ourselves in an urban environments disconnected from nature, but all the research shows that we need nature to be happy and content, in architecture we have biophilic and biomorphic design as well as biomimicry to create spaces for humans where they can live connected to nature. And at Ellie Bosch Designs we aim to enhance happier lives through our products.

Bags
Our bags are vibrant, bold and say something about the people carrying them. Dare to be yourself and show your true colours, they offer a variety of options to choose from they can be used for different occasions giving our customer the versatility to use the same bag for work and play.
From the leftover scraps, we manufacture reusable pocket fold-up shopping bags. When folded, they become a small pocket you can easily carry, but they expand to a full shopping bag. We also, give the reusable fold-up shopping bags as gifts with purchases promoting a message of carry our bag and use less plastic.
Our bags are also very easy to clean! Wipe clean for the canvas and machine washable for the twill. No expensive cleaning methods needed...

Stationary
Journals are place where one can air their thoughts and document their ideas while sketchpads are a place where all amazing ideas get realized. With the stationery products the message we aim to translate is put your inner self on paper.
The process of writing with a pen or drawing with a pencil is you physically documenting all the great stuff in your brain and making sure that what makes you unique is not lost, and as a art and design teacher whose been in the field for many years I have seen the growth in the lives of children through drawing and writing, which makes our brand even more important.

You collaborate with female-owned businesses in George, including Jessica Malgas and Yolandi Kiewiets of Rethink Bags. What has it been like working with them, and how do their skills contribute to your brand?
Working with Jessica and Yolandi is a true blessing. They are the Ellie Bosch brand. They are the sunshine in the flowers. Their level of craftsmanship makes every bag the perfect bag. Every single photo I take for our online store shows the beautiful finishes and the amazing work of two hard-working South African women.
Ellie Bosch Designs actively creates jobs and builds a sense of community. What impact have you seen from this initiative, both within your business and in the community?
Creating awareness in our community is our highest priority. We launched the fashion products and the online store in September 2024 with a fashion show and we used every available platform to promote the brand and tell our story.
What are some of the most rewarding moments you’ve experienced since launching Ellie Bosch Designs?
Launching our online store on my mom’s birthday was most rewarding. I grew up in my mom’s business and had the privilege of having a kind-hearted, brilliant designer and entrepreneur as a mother. She spent most of her life empowering rural women by teaching them skills such as spinning and weaving and creating job opportunities.
What’s next for Ellie Bosch Designs? Are there any exciting projects or collections in the works?
We are currently working on the fauna part of our dream. We have The Wandering in the Wild and Ndloti Game Stationery Collections with our African wildlife- the new fabric designs for the bags are animal prints and we are very excited to contract the animal print designs with all the flower designs.
And I want to make something for the boys. It is high time.

We do custom stationery for customers. We manufacture small numbers of each design and are constantly bringing in new designs. We do plan limited-edition designs for the end of the year.
