Colleen’s Handmade Sauces is a proudly South African brand dedicated to creating premium, sugar-free, gluten-free sauces made with fresh, organic ingredients sourced from local farmers.
They source their ingredients directly from local organic farmers, ensuring the highest quality and freshness. Since they don’t use preservatives, they make their sauces in small batches to maintain their natural flavours and nutritional integrity. Unlike many sauces that use cheap seed oils, they only use premium oils such as organic cold-pressed macadamia nut oil and coconut oil, which are healthier and enhance the richness of their flavours.
My journey started with a passion for real, healthy food, says Colleen. I was frustrated by the lack of clean, high-quality sauces on the market most were filled with sugar, preservatives, and unhealthy seed oils. I wanted to create something different: sauces made from pure, fresh ingredients that enhance meals without compromising health. What began as a small project at farmers’ markets has grown into a brand stocked in over 40 stores, sold online, and even the possibility of exporting internationally.
I grew up in a home where cooking was a way of bringing people together, Colleen added. My family always emphasized fresh, natural ingredients, and that philosophy has shaped the way I create my sauces. Every bottle is made with the same love and care that went into the homemade meals I grew up with.
I wanted to create sauces that make healthy eating exciting. Too often, healthy food is seen as bland, but our sauces prove that you can have bold, delicious flavours while maintaining a clean, wholesome diet. My goal is to inspire people to cook more at home, experiment with new flavours, and enjoy real, nutritious food without additives or unhealthy oils.
In addition, we also have a brand Farm-to-table is the foundation. Which means by sourcing from organic farms, we ensure that our ingredients are fresh, chemical-free, and bursting with natural flavour. This approach not only leads to healthier products but also supports sustainable and ethical farming practices.
Packaged in beautiful glass bottles, our sauces are more than just condiments, they are versatile cooking sauces, marinades, dipping sauces, and table sauces. Unlike many commercial brands, we do not use preservatives, additives, or seed oils, ensuring that every bottle is filled with pure, wholesome goodness.

Portuguese Peri-Peri Sauce : Our top-selling sauce! Made with fresh garlic and coconut oil, it delivers a bold, fiery kick with a smooth, rich finish. Perfect for marinating, grilling, or dipping.
Smoked Paprika Chilli Sauce : A deep, smoky sauce with a mild heat, great for adding warmth to any dish.
Thai Coriander & Ginger Chilli Sauce : A fragrant, zesty sauce with an Asian-inspired twist, ideal for stir-fries, seafood, and salads.
Lemon & Herb Sauce : A light, tangy sauce that enhances chicken, fish, and vegetables with its fresh citrusy notes.
Maca-nnaise : Our signature plant-based mayonnaise made with organic cold-pressed macadamia nut oil—rich, creamy, and completely free from seed oils.
Our Portuguese Peri-Peri Sauce is the clear favourite! Customers love its bold but medium heat, the depth of fresh garlic, and the richness of coconut oil. Unlike many peri-peri sauces that contain seed oils and artificial ingredients, ours is made with pure, high-quality components, making it a standout product.
Another customer favourite is the Smoked Paprika Chilli Sauce, thanks to its versatile smoky richness that enhances everything from eggs to grilled meats.
How do you support local farmers through your business?
We prioritize sourcing directly from local organic farmers, ensuring they receive fair prices for their produce. By supporting small-scale, sustainable agriculture, we help promote soil health, reduce our environmental footprint, and bring the best-quality ingredients to our customers. Our upcoming move to an organic farm in Benoni will strengthen this connection and allow us to create a home for our brand, complete with tasting experiences and educational workshops.
