Musical artist Joel Kapala was born in Angola, Sequele area. He spent some years in Portugal due to his mom and grandfather being based there, he eventually had to leave the country and his family and friends to start a new life in England (Manchester). Although he wasn’t quite ecstatic about the decision his parents had taken at the time, he is now grateful for the opportunities the decision has brought into his life.

Kapala’s musical journey started at the age of two when his father would take him to church which is where his love for gospel music started and also where he learned how to sing. At home Kapala and his brothers would participate in rap freestyles which helped Kapala develop love apart of gospel music.

After a while, his parents decided to send him to England (Manchester) to finish his studies, which is how he fell in love with Afro Beat music and decided it would be the main genre of speciality for him, apart from that, Kapala also does multiples genres such as Amapiano, Tarraxinha, Kizomba, Trap, AfroZulo among others.

I have met great producers thus far such as (DJ Cambaio, TiyBox among others…) who have helped me develop my musical work until my talent was recognized by JustNextDoor music label and we closed a contract, I became a professional artist in the eyes of the public in Manchester (England), Luanda (Angola), Lisboa (Portugal), Nigeria (Lagos) and many others countries…

Tell us about your latest single “fayawood” what inspired the song?

‘Fayawood’ means chemistry. The concept of sitting by the fire to warm ourselves up. The more wood one uses to increase the fire, the more their bodies warm up, which with the song translates as, the more love, attention and sentimental gifts one gives, the more strengthened the love will be. Your person is your fire and your the wood that’s added to keep the fire burning.

I hope my music teaches people that to keep the love burning, people need to add and subtract elements on their solutions for it to become the right base amount for the chemistry mix.

I have come a long way from where I started and and I am very excited about what the future holds. I aspire to become the new best multiple artist genre ever. (Someone that can sing on any beat and follow the rules of each type of music) for example, if I need to learn Spanish to sing reggaeton because it fits with the Spanish accent instead of English, I will do it.

Anything you are currently working on which you would love for our readers to know about?

I am currently working on a new EP with various music genres! It’s a different flavour, very creative and enjoyable. I can’t give away much for now but all I can say is, some of the genres you will hear include Afro beat, Amapiano and AfroZulo.
